The next section of the MRT Jakarta, which will span 8.3 kilometers from the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle to Kota in West Jakarta, will have seven underground stations at Sarinah, Monas, Harmoni, Sawah Besar and Mangga Besar in Central Jakarta and Glodok and Kota in West Jakarta.
City-owned transportation company PT MRT Jakarta corporate secretary Muhammad Kamaluddin said the Sawah Besar and Mangga Besar stations would require a multilevel tunnel owing to limited land availability around Jl. Gajah Mada and Jl. Hayam Wuruk in Central Jakarta, between which the Batang Hari River flows.
“A multilevel tunnel will be built in the area,” he said as quoted by kompas.com on Thursday. A multilevel tunnel will require the construction of four-story underground stations. Sawah Besar and Mangga Besar stations will be located 36 meters below ground.
“[Four stories consisting of] two levels for the concourse and another two for platforms,” he said.
The company is scheduled to start construction of line next year and expects to complete it by 2024.
The project comprises six contract packages, namely CP200 for the development of the receiving substation (RSS) at Monas, CP201 for the construction of the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle-Monas section, CP202 for the construction of the Harmoni-Mangga Besar section and CP203 for the construction of the Glodok-Kota section.
Meanwhile, CP205 covers the railway system and track work and CP206 the rolling stock.
The MRT phase 2 project will be funded by a Rp 22.5 trillion (US$1.6 billion) loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). (sau)Artikel Asli
